Best Gigs In London This Week: 10-16 November 2014

Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects five small/medium gigs around town this week.

Tuesday 11 November

Slow Club, Electric Brixton

Slow Club's new album Complete Surrender is out now on iTunes. They're a Sheffield boy-girl duo: Charles Watson (guitar, vocals, piano) and Rebecca Taylor (drums, vocals, guitar). The album was recorded with producer Colin Elliot, who previously helped create an equally widescreen sound on albums by Richard Hawley. Tonight their live performance takes place in Brixton. @SLOWCLUBHQ, @brixtonelectric

Wednesday 12 November

Jordan Hunt, Servant Jazz Quarters, Dalston

Jordan Hunt is a composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist. He's currently working on his debut EP from which this track is taken — get your gig tickets now. He describes it as a demo but to our ear it sounds very tight. @JordanHuntMusic, @ServantJazz

Thursday 13 November

We Used To Make Things, DB Cohen, The Fourfits and Beatrix Players, O2 Islington

Four amazing bands — We Used To Make Things, The Fourfits, DB Cohen and The Beatrix Players — are coming together to raise money for an incredible charity. Solace Woman's Aid provides support to over 4,000 survivors of domestic and sexual violence each year. They help women and children to stay safe and recover from trauma. And you can help! Buy a £10 ticket and get a night of live music while supporting this charity. LondonGigGuide is delighted to be supporting the cause and our host Tom will be introducing the bands on the night. @O2Islington, @WUTMT, @db_cohen, @thefourfits, @BeatrixPlayers

Friday 14 November

Cafe Manouche, The Elgin, Ladbroke Grove

They may sound French but they're actually based in London and Stamford. Café Manouche are a young Gypsy jazz and swing band formed by three brothers and heavily inspired by gypsy jazz guitar legend Django Reinhardt. This is a free gig. @CafeManouche, @TheElginW11

Saturday 15 November

Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, The Harrison, Kings Cross

https://soundcloud.com/rob-heron/danse-de-la-limonade

These guys are a six piece from Newcastle Upon Tyne. The songs are penned by Rob Heron, a "crazy fool for country music and a full time dandy-cowboy". Get your ticket before it's too late. @RobHeronTeaPad, @TheHarrisonFolk
