On a corner outside Tottenham Court Road tube station sits London's first Solarbox. It's a disused phone box which has been painted green and now offers a solar-powered charging point for mobile phone users.
It's taken 14 months from concept to launch and now the first of these Solarboxes — more are planned — is now up and running and available for anyone who needs to re-juice their smartphone in a hurry.
Solarbox is the invention of Kirsty Kenny and Harold Craston, and it earned them second place in the Mayor of London’s Low Carbon Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
