BRITAIN DESIGN: Best of Britannia festival takes over the Victorian Farmiloe Building in Clerkenwell for a few days, turning it into a massive pop-up department store. Expect British manufacturing, music, dance and cinema — see our preview. From £8, prebook, until 4 October

DISLOCATING ASIA: Performances shaped by migrations from East Asia with a focus on Shih-I Hsiung, the first Chinese director to work in the West End. FILM SCREENING: The ICA hosts a film screening by DocHouse: Sofia's Last Ambulance. The documentary is about Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and its medical infrastructure, especially focusing on ambulances. £11/£8, prebook, 6.30pm

TALK: Learn about the surgery techniques developed during the Age of Enlightenment at the Old Operating Theatre Museum. The talk explores the rise of scientific surgery performed by men like William Cheselden and John Hunter. £6.50/£5, prebook by email, 6.30pm
