Cyclist's Death Increases Calls For Junction Improvements

A cyclist who was hit by a lorry at Ludgate Circus on Friday has died in hospital.

The 26-year-old female was crushed under a lorry and taken to the Royal London Hospital, but died this morning.

The junction is a notorious accident black spot and six months ago Manuel Ben Rodriguez was killed after being hit on his bike by another HGV just yards from this latest incident.

Ludgate Circus forms part of the Mayor’s vision for a north-south cycle route and is set to be improved if plans get the go-ahead. Following the accident, users of social media have pointed out that if this infrastructure was in place, the HGV and cyclist would not have come in to contact.
