Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects four small/medium gigs around town this week.
Monday 13 October
The Barr Brothers, Rough Trade East, Brick Lane
Over from Montreal to launch their new album Sleeping Operator. They laid down 40 tracks and then slimmed those down to the 13 that appear on the record. We love their use of a classical harp in a blues track — it sounds epic. @thebarrbrothers, @RoughTrade
Tuesday 14 October
Little Brother Eli, Surya, Kings Cross
Five piece rock and rollers from Oxford doing weird things to a song from your childhood. This is not a novelty act. Brilliant musicianship and a vocalist with power and passion. @LittleBroEli, @Surya_London
Wednesday 15 October
Elephant 12, Barfly, Camden
These guys are festival favourites (the gig is being organised by the team behind LoveBox and Great Escape). They are a three piece electro punk/rap band from east London, and will be showing off some new tracks at the gig. @Elephantwelve, @TheBarflyHQ
Thursday 16 October
Our Man In The Field, Hackney Attic
https://soundcloud.com/alexanderellis-1/letranger-final
Alexander Ellis is the man behind Our Man in The Field, a name which implies an attempt to use songs to record and convey his experiences of life. He succeeds and with his band has created a beautiful self-titled EP. This gig is free entry. @OurManInTField, @HackneyAttic
Friday 17 October
Autoheart, Sebright Arms, Bethnal Green
https://soundcloud.com/autoheart/agoraphobia-radio-edit
The band have taken time out from recording their second album to play this one-off gig. Expect piano ballads, with the occasional indie or disco beat, and some stunning harmonies. They sold out when they played this venue last time so get your tickets quick. @Autoheart, @SebrightArms
