There's no denying that vintage fairs are two-a-penny in London. They pop up in town halls and the like practically every weekend, but the one that always stands out to us is the Classic Car Boot Sale.

Not only is it a chance to inject some retro glamour into your wardrobe or home, but all traders display their wares in vintage vehicles. In September, the Classic Car Boot Sale ups sticks and heads east to Stratford, where we're promised over 100 vintage vehicles. If you're not much of a shopper, there's still plenty to do — choons from the 1940s-80s will be played from an open-air Routemaster bus, and street theatre performances will be taking place.

Even the caterers get in on the vintage vehicle act — last time we snacked on nosh from a VW Camper van, followed by a  cupcake served from a retro caravan.

We went to Classic Car Boot Sale's Spring shindig at Southbank Centre in March, and spent as much time looking at the classic vehicles as we did the wares within them. We admit, we know very little about cars, but we got pretty excited nonetheless. From VW campers to Vespa scooters, and pastel coloured-cadillacs, the vintage vehicles were in excellent condition, and were certainly drawing a crowd. With more space at the new venue in Stratford, we can easily see ourselves losing a day in this vintage rabbit hole.

Classic Car Boot Sale takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford on 20-21 September. Entry is £5 before 11am or £4 after.
