Mark Mason's rather superb book The Importance of Being Trivial includes this fact: Because radio waves travel at the speed of light, which is faster than the speed of sound, in theory you should be able to hear Big Ben's chiming on an FM radio BEFORE you do if you're standing directly below the clock tower.
