Halloween has joined Christmas as being less a single day and more an entire season. Let’s face it: for those of us who like to dress up, like to be scared, like to explore the darker corners of London and our souls or just like to party as if the very apocalypse is scheduled for the morrow, Halloween is our own black Christmas.

Next month, Antique Beat and A Curious Invitation are teaming up for an extended series of talks and other events on a marvellously macabre menu of topics in aid of the Brompton and Kensal Green cemeteries. Called London Month Of The Dead Past, Present And Hereafter, there is plenty to keep your (third) eye out for.

Proving that stuffing is not just for chickens, Margot Magpie will be holding a couple of taxidermy workshops going into the sticky details of preserving rats (25 October) and mice (1 November). Those looking to see more of London can stretch their legs on a tour of the Brompton Cemetery (11 October) or check out the forgotten burial grounds and a private view of the Museum of London’s bone archive (18 October).

Londonist’s editor-at-large Matt Brown and Matthew Hogan will be giving tips on coping with catastrophe in the capital in their Apocalypse Now & Then talk (19 October) while Londonist contributor Scott Wood and Chris Josiffe explore London life after death in their Psychic City talk on 2 November.

For full details on the ghoulish treats, check out the official London Month Of The Dead website.
