PHOTO EXHIBITION: Personal Truths is a photographic exhibition, part of The Shoreditch Design Triangle, taking place at 7la in Shoreditch. On display are in-depth documentary projects that show the photographers’ own lives. Free, until 19 September

BEHIND THE SCENES: Explore Royal Festival Hall and go backstage on this guided tour. See areas of the building which are usually off limits (and don't have step-free access and involve heights) — meeting point is at the ticket office. £8.50+bf, prebook, noon

GUIDED WALK: Explore a lost London river as you follow the footsteps of the poet John Keats on a literary walk along the Thames’s most famous tributary — the Fleet. Meeting point is the City Information Centre, opposite St Paul’s Cathedral — this event repeats on Thursday and Friday. £8+bf, prebook, 12.30pm

ART TALK: Guildhall Library hosts Alexandra Epps who looks at the wealth of modern and contemporary public art in the City. The talk is followed by an optional public art highlights walk — the cost is £5 and you can pay on the day. Free, prebook, 2pm

SOCIAL WRITING: The Proud Archivist in Haggerston hosts Drinks, Thinks & Inks. Expect fun and brief writing exercises to open minds, without over-challenging them. No experience necessary, groups and individuals are all welcome. £10, prebook, 6.30pm

TALK: Head to the John Harvard Library in Borough and join a free talk led by Ross MacFarlane, Engagement Officer at the Wellcome Library. He discusses the history of Southwark's medical officers of health. Free, just turn up, 6.30pm
