DESIGN MUSEUM: John Lewis: How We Live Today at Design Museum kicks off. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of London’s famous department store, the museum dedicates a pop-up exhibition to John Lewis. £12.40/£9.30, until 21 September

CARDINAL BURNS: British Comedy Award winners and BAFTA nominees Cardinal Burns are onstage at the Soho Theatre for two weeks. Many of the shows are already sold out so we suggest you book quickly. £17.50/£15, prebook, 7.30pm every day until 20 September

TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL: The largest fleet of Tall Ships to visit London in 25 years brings with it opportunities to board the Tall Ships moored along Greenwich waterfront, fireworks displays, free cultural performances, music, and a crew parade and festival procession. LET'S DANCE: Head to Drink Shop & Do in King's Cross and learn the choreography of Beyonce's hit Run The World (Girls). Bring your comfy clothes and prepare yourself for the dance floor. £10, prebook, 6-8pm and 8.30-10.30pm

WATCH CRICKET: The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) in Moorgate hosts an afternoon of cricket in aid of The Sick Children's Trust. Everyone is welcome: there will be an afternoon tea break and by buying tickets you get the chance to have dinner with the cricketers. £200-£10, prebook, 2pm-6.30pm

BRITISH LIBRARY: Alan Rusbridger, Editor-in-Chief of the Guardian, shares his views on freedom of the press at the British Library. The talk examines his career at the newspaper and his media battles fought over the years. £8/£6, prebook, 6.30pm

POLARI: Southbank Centre’s LBGT literary salon, Polari, hosts author Joanna Briscoe talking about her latest novel, Touched. Briscoe is joined by writers including Carole Morin, Trudy Howson, Collin Kelley and Juliet Jacques.
