OSCAR WILDE: Lady Windermere's Fan, Oscar Wilde's first work, opens at Kings Head Theatre in Islington tonight. Lady Windermere's life is thrown into jeopardy when her husband invites a mysterious widow to her 21st birthday ball. Prebook, until 23 August
OPERA: Also opening today is La Traviata at Soho Theatre. The opera is the story of Violetta, a 1920s woman who sacrifices her own happiness for the sake of her lover’s family and future. From £25, prebook, until 14 September
NATURE NOTEBOOKS: The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill offers children a chance to make their own nature notebook, then explore the gardens. Free, just turn up, 11am-2pm. Find more things to entertain kids in London this week.
CYCLING CHAMPION: Olympic and World champion cyclist Nicole Cooke is at Waterstones London Wall to sign copies of her new autobiography, The Breakaway. Arrive early to avoid disappointment. 12.30pm
MUSEUM BY CANDLELIGHT: The monthly evening opening of Sir John Soane's Museum in Holborn takes place tonight. The former home of the architect will be lit by candlelight. Free, just turn up (it's always a popular one, so get there early and expect to queue), from 5.30pm
CARTOONS THROUGH TIME: The Cartoon Museum near Tottenham Court Road marks the centenary of World War One with a talk by curator Anita O'Brien, who looks at the changing perceptions of WW1 through the work of cartoon and comic artists in 1914-18 and since. £6/£5/£4, prebook, 6.30pm

The Kilburn Passion focuses, unsurprisingly, on the residents of Kilburn High Road, who are all too busy with their own lives to notice each other until a stranger arrives. At Tricycle Theatre, until 9 August
Repertory Theatre is an original comedy about a young timid playwright who is invited by a neurotic, Hamlet-obsessed, National Theatre manager to discuss his debut play. Chaos ensues. At Tristan Bates Theatre, until 9 August
Good Cause of the Day
The latest Coppafeel! Lecture takes place in Covent Garden today. Speakers are Cosmpolitan magazine Editor-in-Chief, Louise Court, Founder of WAH nails salon, style blogger and trend consultant Sharmadean Reid and Ian Marshall, Managing Director of Benefit Cosmetics UK. The talks aim to inspire young women and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Tickets are £15 and includes a glass of wine or soft drink. All money raised goes to Coppafeel!, which aimed to raise awareness of breast cancer. 7pm, prebook here.
