BLOOD: Today’s opportunities to donate blood are at City Temple in Holborn Viaduct, Tesco Store in Perivale, outside Well House - Parking Bays 35-36 in Bromley, and the usual donor centres. See site for terms and conditions.

ART: William S Burroughs – Animals in the Walls opens today at Londonewcastle Project Space. See a collective of works inspired and dedicated to the American author, considered the progenitor of the Beat Generation. Free, until 7 September

MAYA WORKSHOP: The Institute of Latin America Studies in Goodge Street hosts a one-day workshop about the history of Ancient Maya. The workshop includes experts talks and a trip to the British Museum. £50/£25(lunch included), prebook, 10am-5pm

FILM SCREENING: The Romanian Cultural Centre in London hosts the screening of French film Traité de bave et d’éternité. This is the first and only movie by Isidore Isou, the founder of the most important avant-garde movement of postwar Paris, the French Lettrist movement. Free, prebook by email, 6pm  

MUSEUM LATE: The Cartoon Museum hosts a late opening inspired by the year 1914. There will be cocktails, cartooning and comics workshops, curators' talks and social dancing. See website for full programme. Free, prebook essential, 6pm-9pm

MORE MUSEUM LATE: The V&A Museum dedicates its late to its current exhibition Disobedient Objects. Activities include talks with the iconic Guerrilla Girls and Amnesty International’s director of international advocacy, Steve Crawshaw, plus workshops led by artists featured in the show. Free, just turn up, from 6.30pm

BAT WALK: Head to the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill where ecologist and bat specialist Huma Pearce gives a short introduction to bats. The talk is followed by a bat survey in the museum's garden. £5, prebook, 7pm

COMEDY: The Kinetic Comedy crew is back at The Library in Islington, bringing together multicultural comedy talents. £10/£7, prebook, 8pm

MUSIC NIGHT: Get a taste of Scotland at the Cecil Sharp House in Camden Town. Their periodical Ceilidh Club welcomes everyone for heavy dancing and social fun. Tartan is appreciated. £17+bf, prebook, 8pm  

MUSICAL: Baby Wants Candy is an improvised full band comedy musical, on stage tonight at the Leicester Square Theatre. £10/£7, prebook, 10pm

Good Cause of the Day

Tonight, MOBO award-winner Laura Mvula performs an intimate gig at the Hippodrome in London's West End. The event is raising money for Centrepoint, London's charity for homeless young people. Tickets are £100 each and only 100 tickets will be released for the show, so be quick if you'd like to attend.
