Hot on the wheels of London's Tour de France stage and last weekend's London Triathlon comes yet another cycling extravaganza. Prudential RideLondon comprises several events to encourage more Londoners to mount the saddle.

FreeCycle: A family-friendly and traffic-free cycle around central London. The 10-mile route passes many famous landmarks, with music and entertainment at regular intervals. Normally busy roads are closed to motor vehicles. The event also includes a world record attempt at the biggest bike bell ensemble. It's free to register and take part. 9 August

Grand Prix: Watch the world's elite women cyclists battle it out in St James's Park. The race is followed by two youth events. 9 August

Surrey 100: A 100-mile ride from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park through London and Surrey, recapitulating the the road race and time-trial routes of the London 2012 games. Places on the ride are now fully booked, but you can always cheer the cyclists on. 10 August

Handcycle Classic: 30 elite handcyclists race from Kingston upon Thames to central London, a course of 15 miles. 10 August

London-Surrey Classic: 150 of the world’s top cyclists race around London and Surrey in a variation on the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Race route. 10 August

RideLondon is supported by the Mayor of London and his agencies to promote cycling in the capital. The event is managed by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership.
