Part II of BFI Southbank's Gotta Dance, Gotta Dance season of films features some spectacular and very special dancers and dancing.

There are big screen opportunities to revel in the energy of Jerome Robbins' choreographed West Side Story, wallow in the sleaze and psychedelia of Bob Fosse's numbers for Sweet Charity and be captivated by the strange and emotional work of Pina Bausch and her dancers, beautifully captured by Wim Wenders in Pina (3D).

Yes, last month you may have missed Top Hat, The Red Shoes, Billy Elliott and Strictly Ballroom (all fantastic, major dance films) but a dialogue-free, flamenco Blood Wedding, an homage to Hollywood musicals Les Demoiselles de Rochefort and joyous, low-budget documentary Routes: Dancing to New Orleans are all little-known treats that demonstrate the power of storytelling through movement in moving pictures.

Gotta Dance, Gotta Dance runs until the end of August at BFI Southbank. More information and booking online.
