Listen out for young music acts performing on London’s streets in the coming weeks as they try to win over your ears and get you to vote for them in the Gigs Big Busk competition.

Around 200 acts — soloists, duos and groups — will play key pitches on London Underground and at Network Rail stations, as well as busy places like St Paul’s, Paddington Central, Regent Street and Westfield shopping centres. This is their chance to prove they can entertain a crowd and you can expect a a whole range of musical styles from folk to hip hop, pop to metal, funk to country and all sorts in between.

The winners of the competition will not only be able to call themselves Busker of the Year for their category but will also score a licence to busk on the tube along with career-boosting boons like recording time, mentoring and performance opportunities.

Have a look at the artists and vote for your favourite at www.gigsbigbusk.com/vote. Performances run from Saturday 19 July to Saturday 9 August and you can vote right up to 31 August.

The Gigs Big Busk Grand Final takes place on Sunday 7 September from noon at Westfield Stratford City where 18 finalists will compete before a panel of industry judges and the general public.

Gigs Big Busk is part of the Mayor’s #backbusking campaign which is working to create a London-wide approach to busking rules, making it simpler for street musicians to perform in the capital, whichever borough they’re in.
