What’s The Best Pub Near Victoria Park

Every month, we arrange a pub crawl around a different part of London, based on reader suggestions. In August, we’re heading east to the leafy environs of Victoria Park. We need you to tell us the best pubs in the area. Whichever get the most nominations will form the basis of the pub crawl, and these venues will also gain entry to our London pubs hall of fame, where you’ll now find around 250 of the capital’s best boozers.

Here’s how to play:

  1. Let us know (in the comments below, on Facebook, or by tweeting #VictoriaParkPubs) your favourite pubs in the area.
  2. We’ll tally up the votes on Friday and publish the results.
  3. We’ll then arrange a pub crawl around the most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  4. You can nominate anywhere within, say, a 10 minute walk of the park…so long as it might sensibly fit into the spirit of a pub crawl round the area.
  5. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars.
  6. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  7. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

Londonist Pub Crawls

Having completed an ‘A-Z’ of areas, we’re now choosing other interesting parts of town. Vote winning pubs will be added to our Best Pubs in London microsite.

The Crown. http://www.geronimo-inns.co.uk/london-the-crown Very popular since the refit a few years ago. Looks great inside and friendly staff.

The Royal Inn on the Park must be one of the only pubs in London where you can almost always find a seat in the sun – thanks to it’s front and back beer gardens. That’s why I keep coming back in these summer months!

The Approach Tavern – on a lovely leafy street, with amazing Roasts, and Bars- the newly opened East London Distillery is not getting the attention it deserves!

The Eleanor arms, hands down. Very friendly place. Great selection of beers and whiskeys. Always have interesting guest beers too. The landlord has an eclectic musical taste, so there is great music on Friday and Saturday evenings, and he’ll even do the odd musical request! On Sunday evenings there is live Jazz. Definitely my favourite pub near Victoria park, by a long way.

The Eleanor Arms on Old Ford Road, right opposite the Gunmaker’s Lane entrance to the park. Excellent choice of beers, awesome atmosphere and a great place to start or finish a park pub crawl as it’s directly on the No. 8 bus route into Central London.

Royal Inn on the Park for good food, The Brittania for the beer garden, The Palm Tree for it’s quirkiness (it’s actually in Mile end park but a short walk from the SW corner of Vicky) and The Lord Tredegar for an allround quality pub (again not on the park but bout 10 mins walk from Gunmakers gate, south entrance)
