FREE BURGERS: To celebrate the new opening of Burger Craft at The White Ferry pub in Victoria, this week there's a free giveaway of their Juicy Bastard burgers. Every day this week after noon, step into the pub and say "I'd love a Juicy Bastard" — there are just 50 burgers given away every day, so be quick to avoid disappointment. MEDICINE TALK: Chelsea Physic Garden hosts a talk about Medicine in Apothecary Jars. Listen to Dr Henry Oakeley talking about the history and development of plant-based medicine. £15 (including a glass of wine), prebook, 6pm

GUIDED WALK: Discover The City of London's hidden stories and visit its churches, corners and corridors on this guided walk led by The American Tour Guide in London. Meeting point is Barbican Tube Station. £10/£7.50, prebook, 6pm

SING AND WRITE: Paper Dress Vintage Shop in Shoreditch hosts an evening of music and writing inspiration. A workshop about songwriting is followed by a live performance from Kal Lavelle and Stephanie O’Brien. £6, prebook, from 6.30pm

ROYAL INSTITUTION: Listen to award-winning professor and psychologist Bruce Hood taking about the human brain and its influence in our social behaviour. £12/£8, prebook, 7pm

OUTDOOR CINEMA:Head to Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and enjoy a screening of Slumdog Millionaire. We suggest arriving early to secure your spot — better if around 7pm — as the film starts as the sun goes down. Free, just turn up, from 7pm

PUB QUIZ: Puzzle lovers? Puzzled Pint offers you the experience you might be looking for: first you have to solve a puzzle and discover the pub location — hints are published on the website on Monday evening. Then head to the pub and enjoy a puzzle quiz. This month the theme is Monty Python. Free, just turn up (if you can), 7pm

LIT NIGHT: Drink, Shop, Do in King's Cross hosts Speakeasy, a literary night featuring Nicci Cloke and Ian Ellard presenting a selection of readings by well-known authors. Free, just turn up, from 7pm

ANIMAL SHOWOFF: The Grant Museum for Zoology presents an animal-kingdom-themed evening of open mic including demos, jokes, talks, music and so on. Anyone is invited to go on stage and perform, the only rule is it has to be about the animal world. £6, prebook,  7.30pm

FILM SCREENING: The London Jewish Cultural Centre in Golders Green hosts a screening of The Lady in Number 6. The film talks about Alice Herz Sommer who died this year aged 109: she was one of the world's oldest pianists and oldest Holocaust survivor — the screening is followed by a Q&A session. £10, prebook, 7.30pm

Good Cause of the Day

Run for charity: take part in a 10K marathon around London happening on Sunday 13 July and run for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Starting from Wellington Arch in Hyde Park, you then pass St James's Palace and go through Trafalgar Square.
