The annual Race for Doggett’s Coat and Badge is on Tuesday 15 July.
Taking place on the Thames, the boat race is organised by the Fishmongers’ Company, with support from the Company of Watermen and Lightermen, and is one of London’s oldest sporting events — beginning in 1715 and only interrupted by World War II.
The four mile course runs between between London Bridge and Chelsea’s Cadogan Pier, offering plenty of vantage points (and riverside pubs) for any spectators. You can see a map of the route here, and the organisers have helpfully provided some suggestions for where to watch.
The race will start at 12.45 at London Bridge. Don’t miss an opportunity to see a bit of London’s sporting history in action.
