We had Cow Parade, Elephant Parade, colourful phone boxes and Olympic mascots. The latest temporary art works dotted around town are these book benches. Fifty of the literary pews are spread across town, focused in the City, Bloomsbury, Greenwich and along the south bank of the Thames. Each features a famous book, with a design created by a local artist or celebrity.

This Books About Town event is organised by the National Literacy Trust and Wild in Art. After decorating our streets for the duration of the summer, the seats will be auctioned off to raise money for the Trust.

You can download maps of the book bench trails from the official website.
