London Comedy: David Morgan, Beardyman, Edinburgh Previews

David Morgan: the best hair.

Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.

People's Assembly

Anti-austerity campaigning organisation The People's Assembly holds a fundraiser at Hammersmith Apollo on 7 July, hosted by Kate Smurthwaite and with Jo Brand, Francesca Martinez, Stewart Lee, Marcus Brigstocke, Mark Steel, Jen Brister and more. £15-£30, 7pm

Museum of Comedy

The new Museum of Comedy in Bloomsbury hosts a series of Edinburgh preview double bills this week: previous Foster's Award nominees Josie Long and Mike Wozniak (see video below) 8 July, Brett Goldstein and Rachel Stubbings on 9 July, Chris Kent and Eleanor Tiernan on 10 July and Inder Manocha and Kate Smurthwaite on 11 July. All shows £10 with a 7pm start

David Morgan

This man has probably the best hair in comedy, and that's nowhere near the greatest thing about him. Catch previews of his new Edinburgh show, Social Tool, at Islington's Hen and Chickens on 10 July (£6.50, 9.30pm) and Leicester Square Theatre on 12 July (£6, 7pm)

The New Wave

Join Adam Buxton at Invisible Dot in King's Cross for some of the newest and brightest comics around: Natasia Demetriou, Mae Martin, Jonny Pelham and a few more, on 10 July. £8, 7.45pm

Beardyman

Nobody does musical improv quite like Beardyman, producing a new album before your very eyes and ears at Udderbelly on the South Bank, 11 July. £19.50, 9pm

John Finnemore

This is a heads up warning, because anything involving Radio 4's Cabin Pressure writer and actor tends to sell out. This time it's tryouts for the latest series of his Radio 4 sketch show, Souvenir Programme, at Kensington Central Library on 17 July, 1 and 7 August. Snap 'em up now. £8.25, 8pm
