Laughs Til It Burns At The Phoenix Fringe

We're big fans of the Phoenix Fringe, where London sticks two fingers up at the Edinburgh Fringe and sings a rousing rendition of Anything You Can Do. It's back at the start of August and we recommend getting tickets early.

There's a mixture of works in progress, Best Of compilations, current shows and experiments. We're surprised there're still tickets left for Al Murray (Frankie Boyle has all sold out), and if your bag is people off the telly then be sure to check out Milton Jones and Ed Byrne. But that's not how Londonist rolls, and we'd like to point you gently in the direction of 2013 Edinburgh nominee Mike Wozniak, the very popular Aisling Bea, satirist Andy Zaltzman and the subtle songs of Gavin Osborn. Also, Game of Thrones fans might be interested to see Yara Greyjoy, AKA Gemma Whelan, in her guise as outwardly-uptight Chastity Butterworth.

Tickets cost £8.80 (including booking fee) in advance or £10 if there are any left on the door, or you can buy a day pass for £20 which gets you into at least three shows.

Phoenix Fringe runs 2-8 August at the Phoenix pub, Cavendish Square W1. For more information and to buy tickets see the festival website.
