We Love The 90s Film Fest @ Portobello Pop Up

Done all the rooftop cinemas London has to offer? Clearly it's time you watched a movie underneath a major road. This July and August is We Love the 90s Film Fest at Portobello Pop Up Cinema. The makeshift 30 foot screen resides under the roaring Westway (although fret not, the cement is thick enough to drown out most traffic din).

As if having a cinema under a duel carriageway isn't hip enough, Portobello Pop Up Cinema is also rather brilliantly constructed out of materials reclaimed from the Ladbroke Grove/Notting Hill area.

A series of classic films from the 1990s will be screened at the makeshift microplex form next month, including Boyz in the Hood, Goodfellas, Muriel's Wedding and Pulp Fiction. Each film is presented by a different showbiz guru. Among them are producer DJ Turkish (instrumental in the UK launch of Kanye West and Rihanna) and celeb stylist Ayishat Akanbi.

Grub-wise, We Love the 90s Film Fest has teamed up with Boom Burger, the Jamaican eatery known for its eponymous meat feast served with jerk bacon jam, as well as plantain fries and jerk wings. Sounds even better than a royale with cheese.

We Love the 90s Film Fest runs on Fridays and Saturdays from 25 July-3 August. Tickets are on sale now.

Like this? How about these other cinema experiences?
