An evening of 18th century merriment — minus the gout and syphilis — awaits at Dr Johnson’s House on 25 July. Guest speakers include TV architecture historian Dr Jonathan Foyle and Antiques Roadshow expert Lars Tharp, with bawdy Georgian tunes by David Owen Norris. The event is put on by Historic Punch, resurrectors of the Georgian salon format. This latest jolly serves as a fundraiser for the small house museum, which nestles in one of the many courtyards off Fleet Street. Tickets are £25, which includes a glass of punch.
Tickets go on sale at midday today. Previous events have sold out in minutes, so be quick.
