This Weekend: Free Outdoor Film At East Village

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Get Living London.

E20: home to the former London 2012 Athlete’s Village. If you haven’t yet welcomed in London’s newest postcode then take the opportunity this weekend at The East Village E20 Big Screen.

Presented by The East End Film Festival and Get Living London, this open weekend isn’t just about the location. Firstly, as well as outdoor screenings visitors will be treated to the added bonus of food trucks, workshops and activities for all ages. Secondly, it’s totally free!

Taking place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June, the first day of The East Village E20 Big Screen will have a football focus to tie-in with England’s first World Cup game. There’ll be a special screening of Romanian football documentary The Second Game, followed by more football-themed films from Copa90.

Not into football? No problem, try free Morph-making workshops with Aardman Animations - the company behind Wallace & Gromit. We repeat, Morph-making workshops! All materials are provided so kids and big kids alike can get stuck in and make their own version of one of Britain’s best-loved animated characters (also free, prebook here).

The second day sees an exclusive screening of Jon Favreau’s last feature, Chef, ahead of its UK theatrical release. It’s a star-studded affair with cast including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Dustin Hoffman.

The big screen will be set up in Victory Park, the open space at the heart of East Village. Post-Olympics, the area is now home to almost 500 residents and has sporting facilities, canal-side cafes, restaurants and galleries and 25 acres of new parks and wetlands on its doorstep. In between screenings and activities you'll have the opportunity to explore the new neighbourhood and take a tour of the 1-4 bedroom apartments available for private rent within East Village.

The East Village E20 Big Screen, presented by The East End Film Festival and Get Living London, takes place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June from midday and is completely free. For more information on Get Living London, visit their website, @GetLivingLDN on Twitter or Get Living London on Facebook.
