Online Tube Refunds Start On Monday

delaysClaiming refunds for delays to your tube journey should become considerably less tortuous, thanks to a new online system due to be launched by Transport for London (TfL) on Monday.

The rules for claiming a refund haven't changed from when we wrote our guide a couple of years ago. But instead of filling in a lengthy form and having to wait 28 days to be sent an irritating paper voucher (which we'd invariably lose or forget to take to a ticket office), TfL aim to process refunds within seven days. You can also have the single peak fare of £3.80 refunded either onto your Oyster card or into your bank account.

You can claim for a refund if your tube, DLR or cable car journey is delayed by 15 minutes or more, for reasons within TfL's control, or if your London Overground journey is delayed by 30 minutes or more. If the delay is due to a security alert, a passenger ill on a train, bad weather or planned engineering, you can't claim a refund.
