Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.
Do The Right Thing
Panel show podcast Do The Right Thing records on 15 June at the Soho Theatre, with guests Humphrey Ker and Brett Goldstein joining team captains Michael Legge and Margaret Cabourn-Smith and host Danielle Ward. £12.50 / £10, 7pm
For comedy with a brain (and no heckling), go to The Black Heart in Camden for Lolitics on 17 June. It’s hosted by Chris Coltrane and features Mark Steel, Joe Wells, Kate Smurthwaite, Tiernan Douieb and Grainne Maguire. £3, 8.30pm
East End Film Festival
17 June is comedy night at the East End Film Festival, as Simon Munnery, Kevin Eldon, David Mills, Tiernan Douieb, Nathaniel Tapley and David Whitney join Rich Peppiat to celebrate his film One Rogue Reporter — which, confusingly, screens on 21 June, but you will be able to see The Tunnel, which tells the tale of Malcolm Hardee’s comedy club. Find out what else is on at the festival. £10, 7pm
Josie Long hosts two fundraising gigs for Arts Emergency at the Bloomsbury Theatre on 18 and 19 June, joined by Stewart Lee, Jo Neary and Grace Petrie both nights plus your pick of Tony Law, Sara Pascoe, Robin Ince, Shappi Khorsandi, Nikesh Shukla and Grace Savage. £20 / £15 + bf, 7.30pm
The Irish giant does a work in progress show at the Canal Cafe Theatre, near Warwick Avenue station, on 20 June, 7pm. Tickets are £11.50 each, which will be a massive saving on future big theatre tours, plus there’ll just be him, you and about 60 others.
Balham Free Fringe
It’s first come, first served at the Balham Free Fringe, on 20-22 June at The Bedford. We recommend Ed O’Meara, Elf Lyons, Pippa Evans, John-Luke Roberts, Chris Coltrane, Gareth Morinan, Richard Tyrone-Jones and Phill Jupitus in his Porky the Poet guise.
