Get ready for slushies, strawberries, edible flowers and twisted classics aplenty, as we take a look at some of great cocktails to try in London this June.

Mediterranean Sensation

Available at: The Glasshouse at Carom, Soho
Created by: Massimo Bosio, Head Bartender
Costs: £8

A fragrant, savoury and fresh hit of basil, intermingled with a layer of smokey bourbon and cut through with citrus and a sweet, nutty syrup makes this our tipple of choice when it comes to the ‘vitamin menu’ (basil got Vitamin E, innit) at this six-week pop up at Meza, Soho.

Strawberry Fields

Available at: Harvey Nichols London venues (including OXO Tower)
Created by: Iain Ritchie, Assistant Bar Manager, Harvey Nichols Edinburgh
Costs:  £9, £11.50, £12.50 (dependent on venue)

Us Brits sure do love our ‘Summer Cup’ spirits, so make way for all the fruity, flavoursome concoctions coming your way including this creation of strawberry gin, rose and Fraise de Bois, balanced with basil, black pepper and just a dash of egg white.

Wild Strawberry Negroni

Available at: Reverend J W Simpson, Goodge Street
Created by: Jay Smith, bartender
Costs: £10

Another liquid elixir Londoners seemingly can’t get enough of this season is the timeless Negroni, and the second berry scented cocktail on this list sees a heavenly strawberry vermouth make an appearance in this seasonal take on an old classic. Not a campari fan? This cheeky Londonista substituted it for Aperol. So sweet, but oh so light.

Lost in the Woods

Available at: Portside Parlour, Shoreditch
Created by: Robbie Acres, co-owner and bartender
Costs: £10

Portside Parlour, a bar with a passion for all things rummy, has gone from temporary residency in London Fields to permanent digs that take pride of place on Rivington Street. One of the many stellar offerings on the new menu includes this twist on the classic Old Fashioned — swapping out the whiskey for a delectably dark Venezuelan rum and sweetened with maple syrup.

Half Time Bloody Orange (Sanguino)

Available at: World Cup pop up at Globe House, SE1
Created by: Jim Wrigly, co-owner and bartender at Made in the Shade
Costs: £8

The slushies are coming — Big Easy have their sazerac version, and Kurobuta are dishing out frozen Japanese beer - and it’s the World Cup (in case you missed it) so when propping up the bar and cheering/sobbing at the England match, try this irresistible mix of tequila, blood orange liqueur, finished with juices and topped with edible flowers — which, incidentally, you’re going to be seeing a lot more of over the next few months.
