London is full of grand structures and brilliant architecture, so is an excellent place for capturing silhouette images. As these photos show, it's not just skyscrapers and bridges that make for a good silhouette — tombstones, gasometers and even people are equally good subjects.

With thanks to the following photographers for use of their photos via the Londonist flickr pool: Andy Searle, Chris Brink, Ian Brumpton, John Esslinger, lloydich, naught on, Nick Richards, P1ay, Pryere, Umbreen Hafeez (Real London), unslugged and veronique robin
