Ever wanted to launch your own creative business but don’t know where to start? Whether it’s food, film, art or books that you’re interested in, Makegood Festival next weekend aims to help young entrepreneurs who want to start out in creative industries.
Experts such as designer Cath Kidston, and Rosie Wolfenden of Tatty Devine will be talking about their careers, and passing on the benefit of their experience to those present. If media is more your thing, Channel 4 producer and director Jim Incledon will be in conversation with Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick, or if you’re a foodie, hear from experts about The Business of Food.
There’s practical advice too, such as How To Fund Your Start-Up, a panel session on How To Launch A Country Business, or learn how to avoid mistakes in The Business of Books. There’s also an opportunity to get feedback on your product from a panel of buyers, including representatives from Selfridge’s and ASOS.
The pinnacle of the festival is the Marketplace, which sees 200 creative start-ups launch their businesses simultaneously. These businesses are run by people who have completed a year of training with the School of Creative Start-Ups, and they will be showing their products and services to the public, press and buyers for the first time. Crafts showcased range from millinery, to video production to chocolate making.
