Three Major Art Fairs In London This Week

On Thursday 24 April, London will see the opening of three major art fairs across the city. Expect much more than just artwork for collectors and serious art buyers.

Pick Me Up

Pick Me Up is on at the Embankment Galleries until 5 May. Details below

Pick Me Up

Venue: Embankment Galleries, Somerset House’s South Wing (nearest tube: Temple or Charing Cross)
Dates:
  24 April-5 May
Ticket Price: £10 adults/£8 concessions/£17.50 festival pass. Prebook is suggested, you can still buy tickets on the door.
Highlights: A rich programme of themed events includes workshops, screenings, talks and fashion connections. Pick Me Up defines itself as a contemporary graphic arts festival. It aims to be the antithesis of a traditional art fair, it wants to be a celebration of art and creativity.
Is it for me? Yes, because it’s open to everyone and mostly to the people who want to approach contemporary graphic arts for the first time. Also, this contemporary print and graphic art fair is good for bargain-hunters.

London Original Print Fair

Venue: Royal Academy of Arts (nearest tube: Piccadilly Circus or Green Park)
Dates:
24 April-27 April
Ticket Price: £12 adults & £8 concessions, including catalogue. Prebook suggested
Highlights: This year is the 29th edition of the print fair, which is the world’s longest running specialist art fair. Collectors come from all over the world and you can find prints from the affordable to the big names like Durer, Hirst and Kusama.
Is it for me? Yes, if you are deeply interested in print making throughout the centuries.

The Other Art Fair

Venue: Ambika P3 (nearest tube: Baker Street or Marylebone)
Dates:
24 April-27 April
Ticket Price: £6 daily. Prebook suggested
Highlights: This art fair aims to showcase mostly unrepresented artists. Expect a wide variety of events like taxidermy workshops, children activities, food and drink pop-ups and live screen-printing. There’s also a useful Buying Tips section on the website.
Is it for me? Yes, this event aims to open to a wide variety of audiences, including families. And it’s really cheap (comparatively).
