Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.
Alternative Comedy Memorial Society
John-Luke Roberts and Thom Tuck host ACMS at the Good Ship in Kilburn, with guests Bec Hill, Abigail Burdess, The Ruby Dolls, Mat Ewins and others. New, alternative material, with lots of inventiveness. 21 April, £5 / £4, 7.30pm
Invisible Dot in the West End
For two weeks, the promoters / venue / all round top-notch-spotters-of-great-comedy Invisible Dot take up a residency at the Duchess Theatre off Aldwych. Starting 21 April with Adam Buxton's Kernel Panic, you can expect to see Tim Key, Tom Basden, Claudia O'Doherty, Bridget Christie, Joe Wilkinson and many more. £20 / £18
Triceratops
This one's at the actual Invisible Dot venue in Kings Cross. Terrifyingly funny (and terrifying) character comedian Adam Riches teams up with Joseph Morpurgo and Sophie Wu for a night of what will basically be anarchy. 22 April, £8, 7.45pm
We Love Comedy
A great mix of music, character and stand up comedy at The Pipeline near Liverpool Street. We Love Comedy's line-up on 22 April includes Mae Martin, Ed Aczel, Milo McCabe, Luke Toulson and Andy Holloway. £5 / £4, 8.15pm
Rachel Mars
Comedy gets an interrogation in Rachel Mars's show The Way You Tell Them, questioning how we use and abuse humour. We enjoyed her performance in The Lady's Not For Walking Like An Egyptian last year (which she co-created with nat tarrab); she's got opinions and isn't afraid to find interesting ways to say them. Go to Canada Water Culture Space on 25 April. £10 / £8, 7.30pm
Austentatious
Catch an improvised 'new' Jane Austen novel from the excellent Austentatious troupe at the Leicester Square Theatre. They've been performing for several years now with deserved increasing popularity: it's hilarious. 27 April, £12.50 / £10, 7pm
