The Genesis cinema on Mile End Road might be housed in a landmark 1930s building, but she's a youngster inside. The independent picture-house turns 15 in May, and a series of free screenings is planned by way of celebration.

All the films are from the cinema's debut year, 1999. Treats include Being John Malkovich, The Matrix, The Talented Mr Ripley, Fight Club, Toy Story 2, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, and Americans Pie and Beauty. Yes, all those really are 15 years old.

All tickets are free, but you'll need to pre-book. Screenings take place 5-11 May. The weekend of 10-11 May includes a bouncy castle and face-painting for kids, while 9 May offers a cocktail party with DJ. As a sage man once declaimed: "Tonight we're going to party like it's 1999".
