DEPTFORD, PHOTOGRAPHED: An exhibition of photos by photographer Chris Schwarz that document Lewisham and Deptford in the 1970s and 80s is on display at The Albany from today. Selected photographs will also be the subject of a storytelling performance by members of The Deptford Stories Theatre Company, bringing the history of the area to life. Free, just turn up, exhibition open until 31 March and performances are today only at 12.45pm and 1.45pm

FILM FESTIVAL: Screentest Festival is the UK's largest student film festival, taking place this weekend at London South Bank University. Tickets from £5 per day or £15 for the whole weekend. Over 100 student-made films will be screened over the weekend.

RAILWAY FESTIVAL: The London Festival of Railway Modelling takes place at Alexandra Palace all weekend, with over 100 exhibitors offering demonstrations and advice. £10/£11, prebook

FEMINIST ISSUES: Birangona: Women of War is a show by the Komola Collective about the troubles of women in 1971 Bangladesh, bracing themselves for war and a storm. All shows followed by Q&A with the cast and production team. Takes place at Rich Mix. £10/£8, prebook,

PERFORMER PHOTOS: Shamil Tanna: Encore is a photography exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall of images of artists the moment directly after they have stepped off stage, including Jarvis Cocker, Brandon Flowers and Mark Ronson. Free, just turn up

ECO-FASHION: Camden Friends Of The Earth are holding a pop-up eco-friendly fashion weekend at Red Hand Gallery in Tufnell Park, including vintage fair, clothes swapping, and upcycling workshops. Free, just turn up

BARBICAN TOUR: Barbican is offering a series of architecture tours throughout the year, but tickets always go fast. Tours run at 2pm and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. £10.50, prebook.

ART: Promising "live painting, live drawing, live talking, live drinking, live moving, live eating, live looking, live thinking, live sitting", a group of BA illustration students from Camberwell College of Arts hold their Edition Fair today, at The Peckham Pelican. Free, just turn up, 11am-5pm

AFRICAN MARKET: Open The Gate's African market brings together African designers and artists inspired by African culture, all in the very London setting of Old Spitalfields Market. Art and crafts, ethical fashion and natural beauty products. Free, 11am-5pm

FREE CONCERT: Alex Mendham & His Orchestra, an 11-piece period dance band group, perform a free concert at Union Chapel in Islington. Free, just turn up, 12pm

LITERARY WALK: Bram Stoker’s The Jewel of Seven Stars visits the Bloomsbury sights of Stoker's novel about an Egyptian mummy. You don't need to have read the book to follow the walk. Free, just turn up, 2pm

CHARITY CONCERT: The Mahogany Blog put on an evening of music to raise money for CLIC Sargent, with performances from Newton Faulkner, Johnny Borrell, Emily & the Woods and many more. £15-£25, prebook, 6pm

CHARITY CONCERT 2: Kings Place hosts a free string trio concert, featuring three young and talented musicians, which aims to raise awareness of Kilimanjaro Blind Trust's work improving literacy in East Africa. Free (donations welcome), prebook, 7.30pm

NEW YORK: The Candlelight Club hosts a New York Speakeasy Crawl. Relive New York's golden age of illegal drinking during Prohibition, and watch a dance off between the troupes of Gatsby Girls and Gatsby Boys. £25, prebook.

SHOWCASE: Prowl House's Mind Orgy No.2 in Dalston is a showcase of of the area's finest poets, beatboxers and musicians. £6.50/£5, just turn up, 8.30pm

NATURE: Ponder pond life at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening in East Dulwich, at this all-day family event about the wildlife of ponds. Free, just turn up, 10.30am-4.30pm

CROSSRAIL WALK: All Aboard is a walk exploring the upcoming Crossrail route, from Paddington Station to Bond Street, but it's not just for railway enthusiasts. Oyster Card required. £15/£12, prebook, 10.30am

FLEET WALK: Footprints of London has a walk covering the history of the Fleet, from the springs of Hampstead to the Thames at Blackfriars. Walk the whole ten miles or pick one of three parts. Swot up here before you go! £18/£12, prebook, 10.30am

FAMILY CRAFT: As part of Freedom Week, Rich Mix is hosting a family event about the history of using placards in Bangladesh. Make your own to take home. Free, prebook, 11am

VINTAGE SHOPPING: Head to Pop Up Vintage at St Stephen’s Rosslyn Hill in Hampstead for the complete vintage experience. As well as vintage traders, there will be entertainment courtesy of singers, tea rooms, and even a vintage beauty parlour. £5/£2/£1, 11am-4pm
