Jigsaw, taking part in the Soho Sketch Festival

Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.

Do The Right Thing

Podcast Do The Right Thing is back, taking a break from its old home at The Phoenix and recording at the Soho Theatre on 23 March. Danielle Ward hosts, with team captains Michael Legge and Margaret Cabourn-Smith plus guests Dave Gorman and Romesh Ranganathan. £8.50 / £7, prebook, 8pm

David O'Doherty

Nobody could have the Sunday blues after spending some time in the whimsical, musical company of David O'Doherty. Wielding a tiny Casio keyboard he will fill you with delight. And make you laugh, obviously. At the O2 in Shepherd's Bush on 23 March, £17+bf, prebook, 8pm

Soho Sketch Festival

Running 26-29 March at the Soho Theatre and Sanctum Soho Hotel, this festival really packs 'em in: so much good sketch and character comedy with at least three acts per night. There's Jigsaw, Pappy's, Pippa Evans, Nick Mohammed and the man who makes us both hysterical and afraid, Adam Riches. £11 each night, prebook, 7pm

Tall Tales

John Finnemore, Benet Brandreth, Abigail Burdess, Toby Davies, Marie Phillips and Susannah Pearse tell unlikely stories and play comedy songs at Kilburn's Good Ship on 26 March, hosted by Robert Hudson. This night has been the genesis of many a Radio 4 series. £5, email talltalesnight at gmail.com to reserve a ticket, 8pm

Rachel Parris

If you wrote jingles for companies for a living, wouldn't you occasionally want to go rogue and write exactly the opposite of whatever corporate gush they wanted? Sometimes Rachel Parris writes them anyway, and she's performing them at the Soho Theatre 27-29 March, £12.50 / £10, prebook, 9.30pm

Storyteller's Club

There's more comic storytelling, this time at Kings Place, and from Sarah Bennetto's Storyteller's Club on 27 March. The tale tellers include Aisling Bea, Bob Mills, John Robins and James Dowdeswell. £9.50, prebook, 8pm
