Behind The Scenes With #MuseumWeek

What goes on at the Natural History Museum? Image by indigo.turbo

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at London's biggest and best-known museums? Who dusts the dinosaur skeletons at the Natural History Museum, and are they ever tempted to sit on them and take a selfie?*

Twitter's first ever #MuseumWeek is taking place from 24-30 March. Staff at museums across the UK will tweet from behind the scenes, using the hashtag #MuseumWeek to give followers an insight into what goes on.

London Museums taking part include the Science Museum (@sciencemuseum), Natural History Museum (@NHM_London), V&A (@V_and_A), and the British Museum (@britishmuseum). See the full list of participating museums here, and get following.

Each day will have a different theme, such as #AskTheCurator, #MuseumMemories and, our favourite, #MuseumSelfies. Some museums will also be holding special events to coincide with #MuseumWeek. If you're going to the Museum Lates at the Natural History Museum or the V&A during #MuseumWeek, you can take part in a special #MuseumSelfies initiative. Instagram optional.

Historic Royal Palaces (@HRP_Palaces) will also offer the chance to join in a live Twitter Q&A with, er, Henry VIII. We always knew he was a man ahead of his time. Log in at 8pm on 24 March to take part.

*We're not guaranteeing you'll get the answer to this one. But now we're thinking about it, we really want to know.
