London Connection Puzzle

Your clues so far have been ST PETER-AD-VINCULA and THE HOUSE OF LORDS. Today's addition is THE CUTTY SARK. Think you've spotted the theme that connects these three? Email matt@londonist.com with your solution. (If you're reading this in the email newsletter, please check the live site first, to make sure no one's beaten you to it.) Final clue tomorrow.

From the Archive

A year ago today we were scratching our heads over the following puzzle: which route around the Underground takes in each line for just one stop? Luckily our friend John Wilkes shared the solution with us, or else we would have got nothing else done this past year.

Londoddities

It's 'Bridge Week' on Londoddities. Today's entry is Clattern Bridge, a Grade I-listed structure that crosses the River Hogsmill in Kingston. It's the oldest intact bridge in Greater London, with references going back to 1293 when it was known as Clateryngbrugge. The name probably refers to the sound of horses clattering over the bridge. In 1895 a triumphal arch was erected on the span to welcome Princess Helene of Orléans on the occasion of her wedding to the Duke of Aosta.
