A couple of Londony art offerings from the archive today. Last year we shared some reader-submitted drawings and etchings of our beloved underground, and the year before it was art inspired by famous London pub signs.
Londoddities
This week's theme is 'weird and wonderful sculptures of London'. Today's entry is the near-infinite collection of statuary at Stables Market, Camden Town, of which the fellow below is a particularly confounding example. They're everywhere, these metal misters — shoeing horses, hammering on anvils, or puckering for a big old sloppy horse kiss. Their equine companions are even more numerous — like refugees from some failed ungulate theme park. The market has literally shelves of the things. This bountiful gathering of ironmongery is precisely why Camden Town is way cooler than Shoreditch.
