John Gordillo starts Political, a new monthly night at Invisible Dot in Kings Cross, on 27 January with guests, utopian ideals and topical gags. Alfie Brown will appear this week. £10, 7.30pm
The Horne Section
Alex Horne brings his blend of music and comedy back to the Soho Theatre on 27 January with The Horne Section, and its feel-good fun makes the night a particular favourite of ours. Tonight's guests include Kurt Braunohler, who starts his own run at the venue from Tuesday. £15, 7.30pm
Good Ship Comedy
Yes, we really are making you choose between three gigs on the same night. Sorry. But at least there's some geographical distribution. Marcel Lucont out-Frenches the French at the Good Ship in Kilburn, alongside Andrea Hubert, Jake Lambert and John Henry. 27 January, £4 / £5, 8pm
Shoot From The Hip
There's free improv this Tuesday 28 January and every Tuesday at the Top Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden with Shoot From the Hip. One of our team caught the show recently and heartily recommends it. Free, doors open 7pm
