London 2 Liverpool 1 At Madame JoJo's

Madame Jojos

Madame JoJo's in Soho welcomes a fine line-up for a gig on Tuesday night (the 28th), as two London bands and another from Liverpool hit the stage in an utterly tenuous precursor to the Arsenal v Liverpool FA Cup match pulled out of the bag yesterday.

Headlining on the night are Younghusband, back home in London after a successful gig in Istanbul at the weekend. The Dalston band released their debut album in September of last year to fine reviews, having been tipped by none other than Londonist a few months earlier. The album shows off their semi-psychedelic flair, with band leader Euan Hinshelwood's lilting vocals backed by dreamy melodies that should play well in the hip confines of Madame JoJo's. You can hear 'Comets Crossed' from the album below.

The second London act on the bill are rising stars The Bohicas. Recent signings to the prestigious Domino label, theirs is a more straightforward garage rock sound, with a tinge of the sinister. They recently wowed at a show at Hoxton Square and will be looking to capitalise on the buzz they've been generating with another fine set on Tuesday night. You can hear two of their songs in one, 'XXX' and 'Swarm', below.

Keeping up the Liverpool end are By The Sea, from the Wirral, who have performed with the likes of The Charlatans and at Liverpool's prestigious In The City event. Their eponymous debut album is available now, and though they're closer in sound to Younghusband than The Bohicas they are certainly their own beast. You can hear 'Alone Together' from the album here.

The gig is part of Madame JoJo's regular White Heat event - tickets are £6 advance and White Heat's Is Tropical DJs will be performing until 3am after the gig. And yes, we know it's a Tuesday, but this is London. Live a little.
