The Best Gigs To See In London This Week

Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects his recommended gigs around town this week.

Monday 16 December

Bat and Ball, Old Blue Last, Shoreditch

We played this track on the show a couple of weeks ago and you guys loved it. It is from the band's debut four-track EP, which is out now also called 'We Prefer It In The Dark'. Event Details

Best Friends, The Garage, Highbury and Islington

https://soundcloud.com/bestfriendspartyhard/surf-bitches-3

Lewis, Tom, Ed and Jack make up this Sheffield four piece. This track is about a year old and they have released tracks since, but I'm being selfish and playing 'Surf Bitches' because I love it! Event Details

Tuesday 17 December

Passport to Stockholm, The Troubadour

https://soundcloud.com/passporttostockholm/passport-to-stockholm-wanted

This night is to celebrate the release of their new EP 'The Chemistry'. Passport to Stockholm use acoustic guitars, cellos, harmonicas, banjoleles, loop pedals, stomp boxes and pretty much anything else they can get their hands on. The Track above is the awesome first single from the new EP. Event Details

Wednesday 18 December

Allman Brown, The Harrison, Kings Cross

https://soundcloud.com/allmanbrown/dont-let-me-go

This week's 'Shameless Favourite'. Allman Brown is playing as part of Folkrooms Christmas party, where all of the acts playing were picked by folky songstress Sophie Jamieson. Event Details

Thursday 19 December

The Boxettes & Say Yes Dog, Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen

This week's 'Double Bill'. Two great bands, one ticket price. The Boxettes are an all-female five-piece beatboxing group. If that doesn't sound like your thing, listen to the track and think again. Say Yes Dog are a Dutch band who are currently on a bit of a European tour. This is the first track off their new EP, called 'A Friend'. Event Details

Friday 20 December

The Keepsakes, Barfly, Camden Town

https://soundcloud.com/thekeepsakes/fight-a-little-more-single

Also playing on this night are 'Slydigs' who were last week's 'Shameless Favourites'. The Keepsakes are an 'alt folk' group from Crouch End and this track is their first official single. They've had a great year playing at both Bestival and Secret Garden Party. The release of this track as a single hopefully points to an EP release in the new year. Event Details

Too Much Love, Passing Clouds, Dalston

https://soundcloud.com/tmlmusic/t_m_l

Centering around the brother sister duo of Simi and Vicky this is a seven-piece funk act with a bit of latin/african twist. The vocals are provided by Vicky and I think you can hear a bit of Etta James in her voice. Event Details

The Magnetic Mind, Paper Dress Vintage, Shoreditch

https://soundcloud.com/themagneticmind/its-gonna-be-alright

This is their debut single, which came out back in May. It has a psychedelic, 60's/70's feel to it and and makes me want to lie down in a sunny field and grow a beard. Event Details

Saturday 21 December

James And The Peach, The Finsbury, Green Lanes

https://soundcloud.com/james-and-the-peach/dont-leave-me-now

This is the band's debut single, which came out in February of this year and is from their EP 'Love Riot', which is due out shortly. It's shamelessly dramatic, with a chorus crying out to be sung along to. Event Details
