Photographer, and friend of Londonist, Jeane Trend-Hill has put together a book of photographs and tales from Erno Goldfinger's Trellick Tower (£9.99 + p&p), as well as a 12 month calendar (£10.99 + p&p) featuring the famous block. But this isn't just a random project about some well-known building. Jeane spent time living at Trellick to see what life in the tower is really like and also visited Balfron Tower, the forerunner for the Trellick design, and 3 Willow Road, Goldfinger’s London home.
I’m not sure exactly when I fell in love with Trellick Tower. It’s always been there, looming in the background, the kind of place you either love or hate. I’ve passed it by many times over the years and always wondered what it would be like to actually live there. Recently I was given the opportunity to do just that. Now I could really get under the (concrete) skin of Trellick Tower and see what it was like from the inside.
