  • Thursday2 January 1860: The Hampstead Junction Railway opens, providing a direct connection from Camden to Willesden.
  • Friday3 January 1855: Hubert Bland is born is Woolwich. He and his future wife, author Edith Nesbit, would become founding members of the Fabian Society.
