NORDICA: Ja Ja Ja Festival fills the Roundhouse with Nordic live music (inc Mew and The Raveonettes), film and food on Friday and Saturday. Tickets still available at time of writing - day tickets £25, festival pass £40.

ELECTRONIC ARTS: London Electronic Arts Festival, neatly known as Leaf, celebrates the cultural significance of electronic music and look at how the genre has influenced visual art, film and live music.It starts on Wednesday with an early morning rave. Come the weekend, there's a handful of great gigs, including Giorgio Moroder, interviews, film screenings and masterclasses in the Leaf Hub at Shoreditch Electric Light Station. OPEN STUDIOS: Enter the Wood Green Chocolate Factory and you will encounter 120 artists and designer-makers with their doors open ready to share their work with you. The former Barratt's sweet factory is also home to music studios, which you can poke about in and there will be musical performances throughout the weekend. Free entry, just turn up 12-6pm

SUPERPOWERS: The Rest is Noise festival at Southbank Centre spends the weekend looking at what happened to classical music during the rise of the superpowers. The Philharmonic play great film music, the Philip Glass Ensemble are in town and Steve Reich will be at a concert of his own scores, including that clapping one. INDIE-CRAFT: The Renegade Craft Fair is a "craft, art, design and DIY spectacular" at the Old Truman Brewery. Free entry, just turn up, 11am-6pm

KOREAN FILM: The 8th London Korean Film Festival begins on Thursday. Here's our preview. Choose from 15 events this weekend including animated film Pororo: The Racing Adventure, Public Enemy Returns, classic war film The Red Scarf and box office hit Montage.

JEWISH FILM: There are 15 screenings, two walks, one discussion and an emerging film makers' day to chose from this weekend at the 17th UK Jewish Film Festival. Here’s our preview but have a look at the full London listings online.

FILM AFRICA: It's the closing weekend of the Royal African Society’s film festival and there's lots on: a conference on African Film and Politics, an introduction to Nollywood and a screening of the first Nollywood film ever made, plus the UK premier of 2morrow Far Away and a closing party.  Here’s our preview. RICHMOND: The month-long Richmond Literary Festival is underway. This weekend, there's dancing in libraries, an audience with Charles Moore talking about Margaret Thatcher, and a workshop for kids and families on contemporary art. Check out the full brochure here.

WORDS OVER WALTHAM FOREST: The storytelling and literariness continues with love letters, protest bottles, puzzles and games, Kate O'Hearn, John Clare and much more. Check the website for full listings and booking.

Saturday 9 November

WORDS: Wordstock is a one day festival of writing and language at the Free Word Centre with guests including Kate Moss, David Parfitt and Dick Mullender. £72 / £62, from 9am

REGENT STREET LIGHTS: The annual Regent Street Christmas Lights 'switch on' takes place today, with the road closed all day for fashion shows, retail offers and musical performances from Leona Lewis, Eliza Doolittle and Jahmene Douglas. Activities start from 10am and the switch-on is at 7.15pm, see website for full schedule

PUDSEY: Take your little ones to a Family Fun Day at St Pancras International station in aid of Children in Need. There'll be picnics, face painting, treasure hunts, cookie decorating and more. Free (but donations welcome), just turn up, 10am-4pm

FORESHORE: Jane of Jane's London is planning a Thames foreshore forage at Wapping followed by a pub lunch. Email her to join in, from 10.15am

LORD MAYOR'S SHOW: Watch the procession as the newly-elected Lord Mayor, guarded by Gog and Magog, travels from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice in the state coach and loops back again. There are over 7,000 participants in the parade, including the military, livery companies, marching bands, charities, businesses, aldermen, taxis and the City of London Corporation. And fireworks are back this year - head to the river for 5pm. Check the website for more information. Free, just turn up, processions starts 11am

VEGAN: Brecknock Road in Kentish Town celebrates veganism and local traders with a day of vegan food, with tastings, shopping, music and socialising, plus after-party in a local pub. Free, just turn up, from 11am

FLEA: Browse the independent creative and vintage stalls at Hackney Flea Market on Stoke Newington Church Street. Free entry, 11am-6pm

LIVE DRAW: Artist Jess de Silva invites the public to help shape a 350cm long drawing with their scribbles, at Gallery Debut Contemporary in Notting Hill. Make your mark, watch Jess work live, then see the piece previewed in its entirety. Free, just turn up, 12-5pm

COMICA: The Comica Festival presents two events at Foyles: Benjamin Dickson, Hunt Emerson, John Spelling and Tariq Ali discuss a visual history of protest among English speaking people and then Gareth Brookes, Daniel Merlin Goodbrey, Katie Green, John Miers and Woodrow Phoenix join writer and curator Paul Gravett to talk about graphic novels in the 21st century. Tickets £6, 4pm & 6pm

NEW MUSIC: Workers Union Ensemble want your help deciding the winner of their call for new works competition. Vote for your favourite three minute piece of music and discover more cutting edge contemporary classical music in the beautiful LSO St Luke's. Tickets £10, £5 concs (+bkg), prebook, 7.30pm

BARKING: The last of the big firework displays for bonfire night is in Barking Park, with funfair and live music, building up to the fireworks. Adults £5, under 16s £1, gates open 5.30pm, rockets at 8pm

FRINGE!: Support the marvellous Fringe! Film Fest by going to their fundraiser at Vogue Fabrics in Dalston. See a screening of some great shorts, then disco bop till late. £5 minimum donation, just turn up, actions starts 9pm

HOMAGE TO FROMAGE: Happy 7th birthday Club de Fromage! The cheesy pop club night celebrates with cake, balloons, confetti, tunes and a spot of air guitar in Islington. Tickets £6.50 advance, £8 before 12, 10.30pm-3.30am

MAYA HIP HOP: Maya Tzutuhil hip-hop artist René Dionisio aka MC Tz'utu will be performing at the Ecocentrix Exhibition at Oxo Tower Wharf. He advocates for social justice among Maya communities with his political and poetic rap lyrics, recycling Maya oral styles, infusing his lyrics with prayers and the powerful stories of recent Guatemalan history. Free, 5.30pm

REMEMBRANCE: The National Service of Remembrance takes place at the Cenotaph.

BEFORE BARACK: The Before Barack exhibition at The Art Pavilion in Mile End chronicles 10 African-American presidential candidates who preceded Barack Obama and the relative progress America has made in recent years. Free, just turn up, until 17 November

KEATS FEAST: Have Sunday lunch in the company of Keats' poetry and tuck into a repast inspired by Georgian food history at Arts & Crusts Cafe, Walthamstow. Part of the Words Over Waltham Forest festival. Tickets £30, book, starts 1pm

SPACE MUSIC: These guys create music and data visualisations that interact - Space F!ght are on their Sci-Fi Tour, presenting music inspired by ozone data from NASA and other geeky things. Experience it at King's Place. Tickets £12.50 online, starts 4pm

STORYTELLING: Join former Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo and Olivier Award-Winning designer Rae Smith for an evening of art and storytelling at the New London Theatre. Rae will bring some of her designs to life on stage, while Michael reads from his celebrated works. £4/£3, prebook, 5pm

REQUIEM: BBC Symphony Orchestra play Benjamin Britten's War Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall. Tickets still available at time of writing, £8-£40, 7pm
