ZSL London Zoo is welcoming three new arrivals: three spiny-headed tree lizards (Latin name Plica plica) recently hatched out, making them the first of their kind to ever be born in a UK zoo.

The eggs were whisked (sorry) off to the incubation room on discovery, even though the Zoo didn't know if they were fertilised. After six weeks these little guys or gals emerged (spiny-headed tree lizards don't develop distinguishable sex markings until they're older). They were just two inches long and weighed 2.5g each — you can see how wee they are in the photos. The new lizards have been called Uno, Dos and Tres after their native South America.
