London Comedy: Tim Key, Richard Herring, Puns

See Tim Key at Bush Hall Presents, and book ahead

Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.

Laugh Out London

Holly Walsh headlines Laugh Out London in Islington along with satirist Andy Zaltzman, Pappy Matthew Crosby and Edinburgh newcomer nominee Aisling Bea – who is the reason we've spent the whole time writing these listings with an earworm of her name to the tune of B*witched's C'est La Vie. You're welcome, London. Find out if she looks like her Da' at the Old Queen's Head on 12 November, £6.60 / £8, 8pm.

Uncle Henry's Happy Hour

You might as well camp out in NW1 this week because the Camden Head has three great shows. First up is Uncle Henry's Happy Hour which, once you get past the twee name, has the sharply observed silliness of Robin and Partridge (see video), Lee Griffiths of Late Night Gimp Fight and Brian Demoy. 13 November, free, 7.30pm

Comedy Back Rub

Sarah Campbell's Comedy Back Rub has guest character comedy from Holly Burn and musical whimsy from Mae Martin at the Camden Head. 14 November, £1, 7.30pm

Bush Hall Presents

There are five stellar acts in Shepherd's Bush on 15 November: Russell Howard, Kevin Eldon, Tim Key, Aisling Bea and Andrew Maxwell comperes. £19.25, 8.30pm

Pun Size

Catch the phenomenally popular Pun Run's little sibling Pun Size at the Camden Head on 16 November, with a big list of comics trying out new pun-based material. £2 / £5, 7.30pm

Richard Herring's Meaning of Life

Not content with solo shows and various podcasts, Richard Herring is filming a monthly series at Leicester Square Theatre tackling the big questions. He starts 17 November with creation and guest physicist Marcus Chown. £10, 7.30pm

Tim Key

This is a book ahead warning because Tim Key gigs tend to sell out quickly. First is a festive Father Slutmas show at Invisible Dot 16-21 December, £12, followed by a run of his brand new show Single White Slut at the Soho Theatre 25 February-8 March 2014, £15-£20. Downbeat, self-deprecating poetry has never been funnier.
