Halloween Movies

Portobello Pop Up Cinema's mashing up Halloween movies this weekend with seasonally fun and fear themed food and drink, singalonga and dressing up opportunities plus apple bobbing and all that. Can you judge which of Nightmare On Elm Street, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Halloween your date will prefer? Tickets just £5+bkg.

Tea For Two

Combine a visit to the British Museum or a walk round Bloomsbury with a refreshment stop at quirky basement cafe Tea & Tattle. Your date will doubtless be impressed by your local knowledge and superior judgement in supporting an independent trader over the coffee giant close by, and with tea and a scone clocking in at under £6, there should be money in your pocket for onward gallivanting if things are going well.

Animation

The 10th London International Animation Festival starts on Friday delivering a shedload of interesting sounding mixed bills of animation at the Barbican Cinemas and other venues across 10 days. Barbican is a top notch date venue, with nice places to eat and drink on hand, the free Curve gallery and the building itself to explore. Take pot luck with a screening and see what ensues.

Oxjam Gigs

Whilst a full day Oxjam takeover might seem overwhelming for a date, this weekend King's Cross and Hackney stage much more manageable evening gigs to raise money for Oxfam. Hear new bands play live and support a good cause at the Surya Centre, Pentonville Road and the Hackney Attic at Hackney Picturehouse.

Gory Late

Dip into the Halloween spirit without having to dress like the undead and avoid the trick or treaters with an after hours visit to the Hunterian the night before Halloween and pickle a part of your anatomy (take your own jam jar). Have a stiff drink to fortify yourself before you learn about hanging and death from a surgical point of view. Debrief over vodka at Bar Polski behind Holborn tube. On Wednesday 30 October, entry by £2 suggested donation, 6-9pm.

Want more scary, gory stuff? We've rounded up loads of Halloween events here.
