Nordic Cool In London: Ja Ja Ja Festival

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Roundhouse.

Nordic cool comes to London on November 8-9 with the inaugural Ja Ja Ja Festival at Camden’s Roundhouse.

‘Ja’ means ‘yes’ in most Nordic countries, and for anyone unsure as to why the Ja Ja Ja Festival is so named, then let us say this: rare UK appearances by the hottest Nordic bands? Yes. Cutting edge Nordic cuisine? Yes! A record label market, art exhibits and music documentary screenings? YES.

Taking place over two days, Ja Ja Ja Festival hosts an array of musical talent across two stages. On the main stage Danish alternative rock band Mew will perform their first London show in over four years, while indie rock duo The Raveonettes are joined by other headline acts múm, NONONO (whose upcoming ‘Pumpkin Blood’ single quickly racked up over a million YouTube views), Husky Rescue, LCMDF, Truls and a DJ set from Norwegian singer-songwriter, Annie.

The second Ja Ja Ja club stage will also feature upcoming musical talent from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Innovative cuisines and food experiences are on offer during the festival. If you don’t want to choose between music and food then you don’t have to as curator and designer Nikolaj Danielsen partners musicians with food artists for Nordic Sound Bite. Visitors can also try out Swedish chef Herman Rasmuson’s specially-designed menu, or indulge in a Nordic Fika (the big daddy of coffee breaks).

Both days will feature a Nordic record label market, plus visual art exhibitions from Icelandic artists Örvar Smárason and Sindri Már Sigfússon, but film buffs should make sure they visit on the Saturday, as rarely-screened music documentaries curated by CPH:DOX – Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival will be showing.

Ja Ja Ja Festival takes place at London’s Roundhouse on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 November. Tickets cost £25 for a Friday/Saturday ticket, £40 for a two-day pass, or £60 for a Golden Festival Pass (includes entry to both days’ events, priority access to film screening, plus an invite to an exclusive Ja Ja Ja aftershow party).
