Goats On The Southbank Centre Roof

goat_081013There are some meetings you wish you'd been in. Take, for instance, the meeting to plan events at the Southbank Centre in October.

"So, there's National Poetry Day, a talk by Malala Yousafzai, a big celebration of the 1960s. Anything else?
"We thought we'd put some goats on the roof."
[beat]
"Yep, sounds fair."

And so, on Saturday 19 October, a bunch of goats will be grazing the wildflower meadow in the Queen Elizabeth Hall roof gardens. It's not a completely ludicrous flight of whimsy; apparently a spot of grazing helps the flowers and we're sure the goats will enjoy the grub. It's free, and you can take part in workshops, woodworking and pick up some seeds and plants for your own garden / windowledge. There will also be human nibbles.

This city is getting increasingly goatified. We compiled a Goat Fancier's Guide to London earlier in the year (and we know where you can pick up a leg for a stew).
