Wimbledon BookFest Brings The Big Guns

WBFestivalLondon has a load of great literary festivals happening at the moment, and Wimbledon steps up to the plate from 28 September.

They're bringing out the big guns, too. Roddy Doyle's talking to James Naughtie about his new book The Guts; million-selling author Jung Chang discusses Empress Dowager CIXI and modern China with Samira Ahmed; Andrew Motion reads from his new collection; Margaret Drabble is back with her latest book The Pure Gold Baby; Eoin Colfer brings the characters of his new book to life in what sounds like an amazing show; and if Deborah Moggach introducing her daughter Lottie sounds like an exercise in nepotism, then you need to read the latter's wonderful debut Kiss Me First.

You're too late to buy tickets to see Michael Palin, but there's a competition to win some with SW London magazine Time & Leisure.

There's also two comedy nights headlined by Shappi Khorsandi and Simon Evans, a literary pub quiz and loads of other events with famous names.

Wimbledon BookFest runs 28 September-13 October at various venues around Wimbledon. Tickets £7.50-£15. For more information and to book see the BookFest website.
