Explore a part of London you've not been before with Walk London's Autumn Ambles Weekend. These led walks are free, no booking required, and there are lots of routes to choose from, whether you fancy a short jaunt of a mile or two or an epic trek. If you're the latter camp, take your pick of these long ones:

MEGA: Billed as London's Ultimate Walk the Green Chain Megawalk  on Saturday 28 September takes you through 21.5 miles of South East London footpath over nine hours. The route takes you from Crystal Palace to Erith, starts 9.15am.

LOOPY: Cover a sections of the Glorious London LOOP (that's London Outer Orbital Path) on Saturday 28 September with an 11 mile walk from Petts Wood to Hayes on Saturday 28 September, starts 10.30am.

SEAFARING: This 6.5 mile route takes you from Tower Bridge to Greenwich with a focus on seafaring London. Once you reach the end, continue the theme with a visit to Cutty Sark or the National Maritime Museum, then catch the Thames Clipper back. On Saturday 28 September, starts 10.30am.

CENTENNIAL: Starting at Chingford station, the Beyond the Games - Epping Forest walk follows part of the unwaymarked Epping Forest Centenary Walk, finishing at Manor Park. The distance is about 8.3 miles and it starts on Saturday 28 September at 11am.

GLORIOUS: Go Walking on Water in the Glorious Lea Valley on a 6 mile walk from Tottenham Hale to Limehouse, taking in Walthamstow and Hackney marshes, the Olympic Park and much more on Saturday 28 September from 11am.

SOUTHERN: Walk London offer a bit of the Green Chain they never have before with the Unknown Delights and Gems in South East London 10 miler on Sunday 29 September. Starting from Eltham, you'll see its Palace, the Quaggy, Mottingham, Oxleas Wood and may even make it all the way to Plumstead.
